November 13th 2007 - Congratulations Retirees!
The FNGC Retired Men’s Golf Team won the 2007 Northern Virginia Retired Men’s Golf Association Championship. The FNGC team edged out teams from Chantilly National Golf and CC, International CC, Springfield CC, CC of Fairfax, Evergreen, Westwood CC, and River Bend.
With the passing of a some fellow teammates and Captain Dave Close the team pulled together and sealed the deal. The leadership and culture Mr. Close developed over the past decade carried over, and the team followed through with great pride. Under the leadership of Mr. Vince Cafarella and assistance from Mr. Chuck Ponsart, the savvy retirees fired win after win, home and away, to take the coveted title.
We must recognize the top performers that had yearly points per week averages greater than 2 points per match. Great playing gentlemen: Mr. Russ Bailey, Mr. Bill Breads, Mr. Doug Faulkner, Mr. Dave Kaiser, Mr. Greg Koerner, and Mr. Jay Sharp. These guys are good!
The staff congratulates the team and is proud to serve the 2007 NVRMGA Champions.
